Allyson Felix
Allyson Michel Felix was born on November 18, 1985. Her birthplace was Los Angeles. Felix's father Paul Felix was an ordained minister at the Master's Seminary in Sun Valley while the mother of her child Marlean Felix was a school teacher at Balboa Magnet Elementary School. Felix's aptitude for sports was evident as early as the day she started attending Los Angeles Baptist High School. Within 10 weeks of her first trial, she was in second place in the 200m race at the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix got a contract to pursue a professional career with Adidas in 2003. She later enrolled in University of Southern California to pursue a degree in elementary education. Felix's debut Olympic medal was won at the 2004 Summer Olympics which took place in Athens Greece. Felix set the world junior record by running 200m in 22.18 seconds. At the 2005 Helsinki World Championships, Felix was the youngest world champion in the 200-meter event. The title was upheld for the second time in 2007 by beating her Jamaican adversary Veronica Campbell. Felix had a steady performance in London, Beijing Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo. She consistently placed at the top of the podium in all races.
